This week´s obsessions:
- sudoku. perfect game to play on crowded buses, during boring family dinners, political meetings and introspective coversations with your lover. it allows you to shut out any external stimulus and completely retreat into your brain. moreover it is an exercise in patience, intelligence and logical thiking
- bifo´s writing, and accouts of 77 autonomia struggles in italy. a photocopied copy of "...fatti nostri..." came into my hands and i read it all in one go yesterday. it is a collage of writings, pictures, and transcripts of Radio Alice transmissions during the march ´77 days in bologna. very very intense and moving.
- octavia butler´s xenogenesis trilogy. once again i am reading the best sci fi novel ever written, and enjoing every moment of it. i dream of writing complex analyses of this book, but the questions that octavia deals with are so numerous and interwoven that i don´t know where to start from.
some key words could be: encounter with the other, biology and destiny, desire and adaptation, resistance and compromise, and the subtle line that divides the two, self and identity and description of oneself. and so on and so forth.
